Congratulations to the following teams for winning the Sportmanship Award for the Fall 2011:
Aguila
Arsenal
Barcelona
United
The team Sportmanship plaque and patches will be presented at the 30th LIJSL Convention at the Huntington Hotel. It is truly a great pleasure to have such a record number of teams winning that award. Keep up the good work.
This is being a very good year so far for the Brentwood Soccer Club, but it didn't just happen. It's a lot of hard work and it was not instant coffee as some who do not comprehend the process might think.
1. Congratulations to the seven (7) acceptance to the Northeast Premier League and with the 8th team awaiting the President League acceptance. Up to Spring 2007, Brentwood Terminators was the only team that represented the club at that level and continued to represent the club for the longest seasons in the club's history. Then joined by the Brentwood Explosion two (2) years later, to last year six (6) teams and now seven (7). So if I may say so myself, we are doing something right especially now we are truly focusing on the younger players (intramural) where ALL of them are receiving formal training and away from Daddy's team whose only concern is their own child, NOT all the kids or the club's goal.
2. The Brentwood Club has been an approved member of a premier league with the National Premier League Status. The club will field teams in BU12, BU13, BU14, BU15, BU16 and BU18 and will run those teams as Academy teams to give our better players a path to success without leaving the club. Our players are well deserving of such exposure and competition, but we can't ignore the fact that some "coaches" or should I say "wannabes" who are in this for themselves or assuring a spot for their own kid, would prevent players of such quality to participate and for those, here is the door.
3. Last but not least, Andrew Jean-Baptiste of the Brentwood Terminators has accepted a Generation Adidas Contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) and was drafted as first round, #8 pick by the Portland Timbers. Although we have had a couple of professional players coming out of the club like Chris Armas (raised in Brentwood and attended St-Anthony's HS) and Mike Petke (from Bohemia and played in the club) almost 20 years ago, Andrew has started here at five (5) years old playing peewee, played varsity where he and his Terminators teammates led the school team to their first NY State Championship Title since 1989. He is a true product of the club, the community and the Brentwood Terminators; Terminators that has placed seven (7) of their original Brentwood players on the NY State Team, and three (3) on the Regional teams and National pool. No other teams have done that and I have done it through taking the time to develop our players and that's what I want for the club and our players. I am now more than ever motivated to give our children the tools and the exposure they need to succeed.
Let's go Brentwood! Let's take pride in our club and community.
